“We beat the Reaper by Living Well”
I feel cheated that I never heard of Randy Pausch before today, the day of his death July 25th 2008. Randy Pausch was a Carnegie Mellon University computer science professor whose final lecture inspired millions, who passed away today of pancreatic cancer. I just watched and listened to this famous “final lecture” and was truly moved. Real life lessons by someone who has done something with his life, not the contrived leasons of some self help Guru. At one hour and sixteen minutes and I know most people won’t make the time to watch it all, but watch the first few minutes and I hope you all get sucked in.
If you need the cliff notes this quote says a lot; “But we don’t beat the Reaper by living longer. We beat the Reaper by living well,” said Dr. Pausch, who urged the graduates to find and pursue their passion. He put an exclamation point at the end of his remarks by kissing his wife, Jai, and carrying her off stage.
Our dreams are the only fuel for truly living life.
